Here is another $250 sign-up bonus offer, this time offered by Bank of America. The card is titled the “University of Iowa WorldPoints Platinum Plus Mastercard.” Whew! That’s a mouthful!
The Card
Here are a few details on the card:
- Receive one point for every dollar spent. Points can be redeemed toward cash, travel, hotels, merchandise, and more
- 0% APR on balance transfers and cash advances for 12 months (3% transaction fee with no maximum – terrible)
- No annual fee
The Bonus
Don’t get this card for the 0% balance transfer option since the lack of a “fee cap” is awful. However, it’s relatively easy to earn this $250 bonus. Apply for the card using this link. Select the design of the card you want, and then make sure you see the 25,000 bonus point offer on the application page! You should see an image like the one pictured here. If you are approved, spend $250 on things you would normally buy anyway. Voila. You will then receive 25,000 bonus points, which you can redeem for $250 in cash. As written on their site (bold added by me):
To qualify for this offer, your new account must be used to make any combination of purchase, cash advance or balance transfer transactions totaling at least $250 (exclusive of transaction fees, if any). Please allow 8-12 weeks for the 25,000 bonus points to be credited to your account after qualifying. $250 Cash and Round-trip airfare are available for redemption for 25,000 points. You may use your bonus points to redeem for the airline ticket or for any other available redemption.
I applied for the card and was instantly approved for a measly $2,500 credit limit. Oh well, I have no plans to use this card after the initial $250 anyway.
My wife also applied, but her application needs further review, and they should contact her within 30 days. If this happens to you, you can try calling them to expedite the process (800) 932-2775). You can also apply by phone if you like.

Hopefully she gets approved as well. If so, hello extra $500!
