My New Favorite Four-Letter Word: A-M-E-X

And I mean “four-letter word” in the best way possible, of course. :-)

Why do I say that it’s my favorite new word? If you read my previous entries on applying for an AMEX Blue Sky card as well as two new Citi cards, then here’s an update.

Citi

I received all three cards at the same time. Citi only provided me with a $4,000 limit for each of the two cards. And yes, I received the business card without any fuss. So, from Citi I should soon receive 20,000 “Thank You” points, totaling $200 in gift cards to a store of my choice (I’ll probably choose Target or Home Depot). Nice!

American Express

Are you ready for this? For the AMEX Blue Sky card I put down the exact same (fairly low) income level that I did for the two Citi cards, so I was expecting a similar credit limit. I was wrong.

AMEX gave me close to a $30,000 credit limit. That’s over 7 times larger than the Citi limits! Simply unbelievable. Now I just have to rack up $1,000 in purchases over the next few months to earn my 30,000 sign-up bonus points, worth $400 in travel purchases. I think I can do that. :-)
